Bell & Ross Unveils the New Limited-Edition BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic

Bell and Ross has announced the return of one of its most striking and well-loved watches.

Since the brand was founded in 1994, aviation has always been a passion for Bell & Ross which forms an integral part of the core inspiration behind the designs and identity of their watches. Over the years, the BR 03-92 collection has picked up inspirations and design influences from different aspects of aviation, from jet cockpit clocks to red radar screens.

In 2011, the watchmaker first launched the Red Radar watch that was inspired by an air traffic control radar screen that has captured the attention of many with its quirky and innovative design. The launch was met with enormous success and building on that achievement, Bell & Ross has returned with an updated and refreshed rendition of the Red Radar.

The new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic

Clad in a tinted deep red crystal with rotating discs, the new limited-edition BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic has made a comeback in a new and improved material and layout. While still largely inspired by the graphics of an aircraft control radar, the ubercool timepiece has taken on a matte black ceramic case which is highly scratch-resistant yet still soft to the touch.

The BR 03-92 Red Radar adopts a red sapphire crystal case with anti-reflective coating, drawing inspiration from the flight control instrument.

Zoning in more into its one-of-a-kind design, the time-telling mechanism of the updated BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic comprises of two discs that are fused with the dial, and more strikingly, the two miniature planes that are “flying” around the panes, much like a reminiscent of a stylised toy and an innovative replacement of the typical hour and minute hands.

The new and improved Red Radar adopts a detailed minute and hour scale that makes for better legibility.

How exactly does it work?

To break it down simply, the two rotating discs replace the conventional hands, while the two tiny planes take the place of the traditional arrows. The passenger plane that travels on the outermost disc indicates the hours, and the fighter plane on the inner disc indicates the minutes, while an accompanying regular slim central hand tells the seconds.

Red Radar Eclate

There are two levels to the unique structure of the watch and a larger red hand that navigates between the two.

Ultimately for this unorthodox display, there are two levels: the lower level which holds the discs and planes, and the upper level that consists of the hour scale that is actually printed on the underside of this crystal so it will be well-protected from any potential scratches or impact.

At the heart of the watch, it is powered by the BR-CAL.302 caliber with a water resistance of up to 100 metres. Depending on whether you are going for a clean or rugged look, you can choose between a black rubber and black synthetic fabric strap.
