Patek Philippe continues its honor of time traditions with the opening of a new boutique in JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
A long-standing partnership between the last family-owned Genevan watch manufacturer, Patek Philippe, and Cortina Watch Malaysia culminated in the first Patek Philippe boutique in Suria KLCC retail mall in 2013. Continuing the legacy of bringing the finest timepieces with over 180 years of brand expertise and philosophy to horological connoisseurs around the world, Patek Philippe and Cortina Watch opened its second standalone boutique in JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur in October 2021.
Watch Collection in line with the opening of the boutique
The opening of the second boutique in the heart of Bukit Bintang is a testament that the region is fast becoming a horological destination for watch lovers from all over the world. Celebrating this new milestone, a wide range of the 2021 Patek Philippe collection will be displayed in custom-made large windows and counter displays in the watch gallery area.
An architectural marvel paying homage to tradition and innovation
Boasting an impressive 105.8 square meters sprawled across the ground level of the luxury hotel, the architectural marvel is a sight to behold amidst the striking cosmopolitan with its vast backlit glass wall illuminating the brand’s emblematic Calatrava cross pattern. Inspired by the side lit glass panels in Cortina KLCC boutique, the façade of over 9.6 meters in height is the first of its kind in the world, embodying the brand’s exclusivity and its pursuit for cutting-edge innovation. The façade also marks another milestone by being the first boutique in South East Asia to carry the Patek Philippe clock on the street front. This magnificent exterior truly signifies the long withstanding commitment and ties between the brand, the retailer and the market.
To enter the world of Patek Philippe is to discover a universe where the exceptional is the rule. Every detail of the boutique is meticulously curated to transport its clientele through time into a realm of luxury and indulgence. Upon entry to the boutique, there is a high table providing a casual setting for the watch collectors and connoisseurs to share their enthusiasm and view some of the world’s finest timepieces whilst benefiting from outstanding horological expertise. Towards the left of the boutique, Patek Philippe’s rich 182-year-old history and milestones are featured on the wall for those captivated by the brand’s legacy from its humble beginnings. Paying homage to the brand’s philosophy of excellence and craftmanship, the boutique marries iconic materials like Birdseye Maple, Indian Rosewood and sophisticated materials such as burnished brass. A pair of see-through wood panels with the iconic Calatrava cross separating the main area from the private lounge area creates an ambience of contemporary Asian fusion where tradition meets innovation. The interior of the boutique glimmers with shades of iridescent champagne gold and beige furnishings, embellishing it with an opulent touch while the bespoke chandelier with Baccarat crystals and appliques adds refinement and grandeur to the boutique. Wrapping up the entire Patek Philippe experience in the boutique is a specially curated scent inspired by the brand’s Honorary President, Mr. Philippe Stern’s love for sailing. Called the ‘Grand Quai’ (or ‘big quay’ in French), it was once only exclusive to the Patek Philippe Salons in Geneva, London and Paris.
