Franck Muller’s popular sports-inspired watch collection returns with a touch of artisanal flair in this Asia-Pacific exclusive edition
Things are never always quite what they seem when it comes to Franck Muller. The independent watch marque takes delight in challenging norms with horological twists and surprises. So, when the brand first introduced the Vanguard collection back in 2013, fans knew that the watches’ sportive aesthetic was always primed to be a much more expansive canvas than the initial salvo suggested.

That said, the first Vanguard models arrived with a clear sense of identity. For one, there was no mistaking the watches for anything else but Franck Muller thoroughbreds. The watches’ curvaceous tonneau-shaped cases echo the silhouette of the iconic Cintree Curvex collection (French for “arched in a curve”). The famous curvilinear profile, which endows the Cintrée Curvex watches with three-dimensionality and smooth curves from every angle, has been adopted and reimagined with greater volume and presence on the Vanguard collection.
The heft and muscularity of the Vanguard case extended to the dial. Swapping out the Art Deco-inspired numerals found on the Cintree Curvex models, the designers at Franck Muller opted for a bolder and more modern typeface, arranging them in a sunray-style across the face of the watch. Paired with thick, semi-skeletonised hands, and broad, sturdy straps, the Vanguard collection heralded a fresh dawn for Franck Muller’s sports-inspired creations—but of course, there was always going to be more than meets the eye.

For over a decade, the Vanguard collection has evolved and grown, offering watch lovers both breadth and depth in terms of style and technical complications. In 2025 alone, Franck Muller has demonstrated the versatility of the collection in no uncertain terms. It has incorporated one of its most famous complications with the Vanguard Crazy Hours Jisbar; expressed a more refined dimension with the Vanguard Sfumato Slim; experimented with a new case material with the Vanguard Royal Bauxite; and lavished decorative artistry upon the feminine Vanguard Curvex Cut Flower.
For its latest act, Franck Muller has reworked the Vanguard to demonstrate that strength and beauty can co-exist in harmony. The collection’s familiar tonneau-shaped case remains, but its proportions have been subtly refined, lending it a sleeker and more contemporary profile. Rendered in stainless steel with dark side inserts, the case balances presence with restraint.

It is the new dial, however, that steals the show. The pavé de losanges guilloché pattern forms a rhythmic interplay of angles and reflection. Created through four stages of precise stamping at Franck Muller’s Les Bois dial manufacture, the result is an almost kinetic surface where light skips across diamond-shaped facets. At its centre, a subtle sunburst texture creates visual contrast, adding focus without flashiness.
Each of the five available colourways—navy, grey, green, black, and brown—reveals a distinct mood. The navy, grey, and black editions convey quiet confidence, the green feels spirited, and the brown exudes understated warmth. Layered over these surfaces are hand-painted and applied numerals that rise gently from the dial, complemented by polished hands that reinforce the collection’s identity. A muted matte bezel frames the display, ensuring the proportions feel cohesive and balanced.
Inside, the automatic calibre MVT 2536-SCDT beats steadily at 4Hz with a 42-hour power reserve. The movement’s finishing is treated with the refinement one expects of Franck Muller, featuring Geneva stripes, circular brushing, and mirror-polishing on the components. Completing the watch is a hand-stitched alligator strap lined with supple rubber—ensuring both luxury and comfort on the wrist. With the refreshed Vanguard Asia-Pacific exclusive, Franck Muller once again flexes its ability to evolve while staying true to its iconoclastic spirit.
