2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the Seamaster, a quintessential dive watch in watchmaking history. Although the first-ever Seamaster debuted in 1948, as OMEGA pivoted to making contemporary watches suitable for civilians post-World War II, the watchmaker’s ocean-going endeavours date back much further. Unveiled in 1932, the Marine paved the way with its ingenious design and water resistance. It solidified OMEGA’s reputation as a maker of durable, innovative and excellent watches, laying down the sound foundation from which the Seamaster prospered.

Developed and patented by Patek Philippe in 1996, it sits above the simple and grand date calendars. Those indicators require adjustment on months which have fewer than 31 days, while the annual calendar requires adjustment only once a year, at the end of February to 1st March.
