Benedict Cumberbatch wearing the new Polaris watch
Academy Award nominated actor Benedict Cumberbatch looks every bit the English gent with help from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Polaris watch
16 April 2018, Singapore – Jaeger-LeCoultre Brand Ambassador Benedict Cumberbatch attended the Premiere of his new movie Avengers: Infinity War, looking very elegant with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox on his wrist for both the press conference.
Inspired by the iconic Memovox Polaris watch from 1968, Jaeger-LeCoultre has developed a new collection to join the brand’s existing pillars.
Not just a single homage to a historical reference, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection takes the spirit of Memovox Polaris and applies it to today’s man of action with a full range of timepieces: a three-hand automatic, a chronograph and a chronograph world time, as well as two models with a stronger vintage feel: the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox.
After significant contributions to film, theatre and TV, British actor Benedict Cumberbatch was awarded a CBE by the Queen in 2015. The classically trained actor has captured audiences’ imaginations with riveting performance in Sherlock Holmes. The Imitation Game and more recently, Doctor Strange. In 2018, he joined Jaeger-LeCoultre at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie as brand ambassador.
At a recent shoot in London, photographer Steve Schofield focused a very seasoned lens on Benedict Cumberbatch. Capturing the stoic charm that has garnered a growing legion of admirers. Cumberbtach reveals a scrupulous inch of white cuff poking out from beneath a midnight blue two-piece evening suit, framing a wrist irradiated by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s latest timepiece, the Polaris. Cumberbatch is a traditional English gent, and his watch reflects that, with inspiration rooted in the maison’s history and the Memovox Polaris watch from 1968.
“The Polaris, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s newest watch, fits right into my daily routine. It’s both hardy and glamorous – I can wear it washing the dishes, walking in the woods or just as easily with a smarter look on the red carpet.”
With a burgeoning 2018 schedule, Benedict Cumberbatch will next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War, reprising the role of Doctor Strange, under the direction of brothers Anthony and Joe Russo. This will be followed later in 2018 by Cumberbatch’s performance in How to Stop Time based on the book turned screenplay by Anthony McCarten and feature films The Grinch and Mowgli. Cumberbatch also starts in the Sky/Showtime mini-series Patrick Melrose airing in May.
