Your sunglasses are on, the Daiquiri is chilled, and the pool is waiting. What else could be missing to make it a truly perfect summer? Well, how about a bunch of copulating bunnies on yet another riotously cool watch by Franck Muller?
This scorching season, the notoriously uncompromising independent watch marque has once again teamed up with Tokyo streetwear label, #FR2, for the new #FR2NCK MULLER Vanguard Beach Limited Edition. The result? A collection of three fun and unapologetically provocative watches that is sure to raise eyebrows and the temperature.

Here, the colourful and sporty Vanguard Beach collection—serendipitously released in 2023, the same year that Franck Muller first collaborated with #FR2—provides the canvas for all manner of mischief and chic by both parties. #FR2’s infamous (and self-explanatory) Fxxking Rabbits motif makes a welcome return to a Franck Muller watch dial, engaged yet again in the throes of passion.
Only this time, the rabbits are unabashedly outdoors, doing the deed either under a coconut tree, on a beach towel under an umbrella, or perched precariously on a surfboard while riding a wave.

On each of these scenes, the rabbits are set against a marvellous backdrop featuring a date window at 2 o’clock—framed by blazing yellow to represent the sun—and a pristine dial with contrasting hour numerals. Meanwhile, the watches’ three colourways—Heatwave Red, Surf Blue, and Tropical Green—each represent the dials’ respective environs, complemented by matching hues for the glass composite cases.
Limited to 300 pieces per reference, the #FR2NCK MULLER Vanguard Beach Limited Edition, while exuding a similarly playful vibe as the 2023 collaborative edition to mark the year of the Rabbit, is decidedly more colourful and exuberant—a departure from the earlier model’s monochromatic execution.

Whether it’s the verdant foliage in shades of green; the splashes of orange and red against a bed of sand; or the careful pairing of navy and azure; the command of colours needed to bring each scene to life and demonstrate Franck Muller’s masterful artisanship isn’t lost on the discerning collector.
Indeed, top-notch technical execution, both on the outside and within the watch, is unmistakable. For instance, the signature tonneau silhouette of the Vanguard case gets imbued with greater vibrancy in a light but robust fibreglass composite material.

Achieving this saturated chromatic punch is no mean feat: it begins with glass, liquefied at a fiery 1,500°C and spun into gossamer threads, then cooled into sheets at 700°C. These are steeped in custom dye baths to soak up their rich hues, before being pressed into vivid, ultra-light composite blocks. As a result, the case is hardy enough to take on the elements, yet light enough to feel comfortable on the wrist. Most importantly, it endows the watch with a bold, sunny presence that’s hard to miss.
On the inside, the #FR2NCK MULLER Vanguard Beach Limited Edition is driven by the MVT 2536-SCDT2H movement. A no-nonsense workhorse engine with 42-hour power reserve, the movement, too, gets the beauty treatment with Côtes de Genève decoration, sunray finishing, perlage on the mainplane, among other fastidious hand-finishing techniques, which can be admired via an open caseback.
For a fitting finish, the watches are paired with nylon straps with a leather underside that continue the dial’s visual cues, while wrapping snugly and conveniently around your wrist with a hook-and-loop closure.

Perfect for a bit of sun-soaked mischief, the #FR2NCK MULLER Vanguard Beach Limited Edition may look like it’s all about unbridled fun. But make no mistake, beneath the playful veneer lies a serious piece of watchmaking: a technically accomplished, finely finished, and highly collectible timepiece that proves Franck Muller’s irreverence never stands in the way of horological refinement.
