Since its launch, the BR-X5 has established itself as a contemporary high-end collection, created for enthusiasts of watch design and collectors seeking timepieces that challenge established conventions. Each new interpretation has explored fresh territories, materials, and finishes. With the BR-X5 Meteorite, Bell & Ross reaches a new
milestone: the unprecedented encounter between Swiss manufacture haute horlogerie and a rare extraterrestrial material that is several billion years old.

The BR-X5 Meteorite is far more than a simple aesthetic variation. It represents the meeting of two worlds that, at first glance, could not be more different: on one side, the rigor and precision of Swiss watchmaking; on the other, a raw fragment of outer space rocks, a silent witness to the birth of our solar system. By incorporating a genuine meteorite dial, Bell & Ross transforms the steel BR-X5 into a dual-purpose object—both a highly technical instrument and a unique geological collector’s piece. This duality lies at the heart of the Bell & Ross identity: the meeting of uncompromising precision with the unexpected. The BR-X5 Meteorite takes this philosophy to its ultimate expression by placing a fragment of cosmic history at the center of the wrist.

The dial of the BR-X5 Meteorite is crafted from Muonionalusta meteorite, an iron meteorite discovered in 1906 in the Norrbotten region of northern Sweden. Estimated to be approximately 4.5 billion years old—virtually as old as the solar system itself—this meteorite fell to Earth around 1 million years ago before remaining preserved for
millennia beneath Scandinavian permafrost. Once cut and treated, it reveals the famous Widmanstätten pattern: a natural crystalline structure formed by an intricate network of fine, organic lines created through an extraordinarily slow cooling process over millions of years in the vacuum of space. This structure cannot be artificially reproduced. As a result, every fragment is unique, making each BR-X5 Meteorite dial one of a kind. Across the 250 watches in
this limited edition, no two dials are identical. Each bears its own mineral signature, shaped by the universe itself
long before the Earth existed.

Machined directly from solid meteorite, without a brass base, the BR-X5 Meteorite dial is a true monolithic component, with its dial feet passing directly through the raw material. A thin PVD coating is applied to protect the surface and ensure long-term stability. This treatment preserves the meteorite’s natural appearance while
enhancing its resistance to external elements, without altering its unique character. The resulting aesthetic shifts between shades of grey, black, and changing metallic reflections, as the material interacts with light to create an ever-changing sense of depth and movement. Yet Bell & Ross never compromises legibility in pursuit of raw beauty. The watch features polished, rhodium-plated applied “bathtub”-style indices filled with white Super-LumiNova® emitting a blue glow. The skeletonized, rhodium-plated hands are also luminescent, ensuring optimum readability both day and night. This perfectly reflects the Maison’s signature approach: achieving harmony between the raw power of natural materials and the precision of contemporary watchmaking.

The 41 mm satin-polished steel case remains faithful to the BR-X5 collection’s DNA. Its open worked structure reduces both the visual and physical weight of the watch, while its multilayer sandwich construction combines several technical components into a cohesive architecture secured by four exposed screws—the collection’s
unmistakable visual and technical signature. Together, the steel case and meteorite dial create a harmonious whole in which metallic tones interact and complement one another, allowing the watch to oscillate between a precision instrument and a contemporary mineral treasure. Powering this architecture is a movement worthy of its design: the BR-CAL.323 manufacture caliber, produced exclusively for Bell & Ross and COSC-certified. It offers approximately 70 hours of power reserve, a large date display, and is backed by a five-year warranty.

Limited to just 250 pieces, the BR-X5 Meteorite fully embraces its status as a collector’s watch, further enhanced by the exceptional rarity of its material.
