The watchmaking icon expresses its Joie de Vivre in a new size

A timepiece for women who stride boldly towards their destiny and whose vitality impels playful dancing diamonds to stage a mesmerising show. At the heart of the new Happy Sport, reinvented in a 25 mm diameter case in Lucent Steel™ or Lucent Steel™ and ethical gold, the course of dancing diamonds becomes even more fascinating. This new-sized iteration of the Manufacture’s iconic watch comes in seven variations featuring a choice of materials, colours and straps – including a new double tour option – and diamond settings.

A miniature case for an everlasting dance

The Happy Sport watch returns in a version that is daintier than ever with a 25 mm case celebrating the spirit of jewellery watches and staging the wonders of five dancing diamonds. The softness of the pearly silvery grey, blue, pink and green dials draw the gaze and envelop it in an ultra-chic chromatic texture. This subtle shade accentuates the jewel-like quality of the collection, forming a luminous heart that is an inexhaustible source of soothing gentleness where the eye can come to recharge its batteries at will.

This Happy Sport 25 mm has retained several of the collection’s key characteristics, including the deliberate association of materials belonging to radically different registers: Lucent Steel™, ethical gold and diamonds. Thus unleashed, diamonds are rendered more accessible while losing nothing of their magic and their fascination.

Seven versions of this unprecedentedly sized case – the most miniature version of the Happy Sport ever produced – are available: in fully polished Lucent Steel™ – Chopard’s exclusive alloy made of 80% recycled materials – or adorned with a diamond-set bezel; and in steel featuring a crown, cabochons and polished or diamond-set bezel in ethical 18-carat rose gold.

A double tour strap: bold style

On the non-gemset versions, a magnificent double-tour leather strap adds an ultra-chic touch to the Happy Sport. Every inch the daring fashion accessory, this slim, elongated band graces the wrist by reinventing the watch in a manner simply unprecedented within this collection as it prolongs the motion of the dancing diamonds through a light aesthetic touch.

A splendid midnight blue shade has been chosen to enhance most versions of this strap: a celestial colour echoing the traditional sapphire adorning the crown and reaffirming the legitimacy of the collection’s classic design codes, adjusted to the most contemporary chromatic palette. Teamed with Lucent Steel™ and ethical gold, this sultry shade adds an incredibly stylish accent to any look. The pink and green dial versions have matching strap colours.

Finally, the two versions featuring a diamond-set bezel are fitted with a timelessly elegant alligator leather strap, also in midnight blue.

Infinite creativity

The purity of this 25 mm model reveals a new facet of the Happy Sport’s eminently versatile essence. Since its inception, the spirit of the collection has been expressed through multiple shapes and variations echoing the spirit of freedom in which it was conceived.

A true style icon, Happy Sport has been playing the mix & match game since 1993, freely combining genres, steel and diamonds, the timeless and the ephemeral. Its visionary and avant-garde designer Caroline Scheufele designed a beautiful watch that was anything but formal.  Sophisticated, yet sporty. Unburdened by conventions, joyful, playful and so very modern, it plays with codes while losing nothing of its femininity. Accompanying the movements of the world, the evolutions of style as well as inner transformations, Happy Sport paves the way for infinite metamorphoses, whisking along in its merry whirl a world on the move (and a work in progress): that of women’s emancipation. “Be Happy”, like a talisman on the wrist.

Happy Sport, story of a watch icon

Spotlight on 1993 when Chopard Co-President Caroline Scheufele effectively captured the spirit of the times in designing a sports watch based on an original association between the robustness of steel and the nobility of diamonds.

Ensuring that each diamond in its spinning-top capsule is arranged in such a way that its dance is never hindered is technical feat that only a few choreography artisans are capable of achieving. Thus embodying unprecedented daring, the Happy Sport was born, epitomising a noble legacy of sporty-chic style in an ever-changing choreography of dancing diamonds.

A dazzling new duo in peaceful purple and mint green

Chopard expresses its legendary Joie de Vivre in a burst of colour with two exciting new shades joining its iconic Happy Sport collection. The perfect example of the Maison’s equal mastery of watchmaking performance and jewellery design, Happy Sport is living proof of the fact that beautiful objects offer the ideal setting for unparalleled technical virtuosity.

Attesting to this, these latest iterations, entirely crafted from ethical 18-carat rose gold and ethical 18-carat rose gold and Lucent Steel™ respectively and powered by Chopard’s quintessential automatic 09.01-C movement with a 42-hour power reserve especially designed for daintier ladies’ watches, appear in two different sizes featuring glowing mother-of-pearl dials: Happy Sport 30 mm in fresh mint and Happy Sport 33 mm in rich purple.

The unparalleled skill of the Manufacture’s artisans thus once again comes to the fore in these stunning new interpretations in which diamond bezels provide a perfect complement to the legendary twirl of the dancing diamonds that are part of the immutable Happy Sport identity.

Thus embodying unprecedented audacity, the Happy Sport was born, epitomising a noble legacy of casual chic style in an ever-changing choreography of dancing diamonds.

A powerful metaphor of the emancipatory momentum women experienced in the 20th century, this free-spirited collection vividly reflects this vibrant life force and has lent itself to countless transformations ever since its debut.

Endowing each of the two latest additions to the Happy Sport collection with its own unique character, the Maison’s artisans successfully combine the silky iridescence of mother-of-pearl, its rarity and the singularity of its naturally occurring wave-like motifs with a cascade of precious stones in modern mint and peaceful purple.

Modern mint

The 30 mm diameter character of the first of these stunning timepieces is reinvented in ethical 18-carat rose gold with a mother-of-pearl dial in a wholly modern shade of mint green – a dazzling, joyful colour reputed to spark creativity. Exuding a sense of freshness and lightness emphasised by its matching glossy alligator strap and glowing tsavorite on the crown, this cool, calm, collected creation features a diamond-set bezel as a perfect complement to its traditional five dancing diamonds.

Peaceful purple

Particularly well suited to feminine wrists, Chopard’s dainty, most coveted two-tone 33 mm diameter Happy Sport now appears in an ethical rose gold and Chopard’s exclusive Lucent Steel™, produced with 80% recycled materials. Equally graced with a diamond-set bezel, the Maison’s signature five dancing diamonds twirl on a subtle purple gradient mother-of-pearl dial, with a matching pearlescent alligator strap and glowing amethyst on the crown. A colour of many meanings, purple combines the calm stability of blue and the fierce energy of red and is often associated with nobility, luxury and power, as well as magic, peace, pride, and independence.

Integrating two centres of excellence

Both these alluring timepieces are powered by the Chopard automatic 09.01-C movement with a 42-hour power reserve whose presence in the original Happy Sport bore witness to Chopard’s ever more seamless integration of its two centres of excellence: watchmaking and jewellery, and the unique combination of the unparalleled skills and expertise that contribute to their splendour.

Haute Joaillerie

Crowning time with a wealth of light and colour

Gemset timepieces are a source of very special emotions within Caroline Scheufele’s creative repertoire. Almost a century ago, the grandfather of Chopard’s current Co-President and Artistic Director was already renowned for the jewellery watches in which he had come to specialise. This longevity gives an idea of the expertise cultivated by several generations of artisans within the Maison’s Haute Joaillerie workshops from which two new jewellery feats have now emerged.

Haute Joaillerie 104672 1001 134154 9001 At Cortina Watch Combined

The first white gold model is entirely set with diamonds in a virtuoso arrangement of round and pear shapes, studded with emeralds exuding a mesmerising charm. The emerald has been much sought after since Antiquity, with Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt notably said to have loved this precious stone evoking the fresh charm of verdant Nature and its prolific bounty. Through its green colour, it symbolises triumphant life forces. It is this unique yet fragile gem requiring extremely careful handling that the Maison’s master jewellers have chosen to highlight in this watch.

Nature makes an indelible imprint through to the very heart of the dial, on which 12 pear-shaped diamond hour-markers form a generous rosette.

In another equally splendid jewellery watch, two very rare fancy vivid yellow pear-shaped diamonds light up the dial at 12 and 6 o’clock. These over two-carat precious stones are discreetly held by yellow gold prongs whose colour matches that of the diamonds. The rest of the corolla surrounding this jewellery watch is adorned with white diamonds in an infinitely graceful symmetrical composition whose supreme refinement is paired with a grey satin strap.

In keeping with Chopard’s commitment to sustainable luxury, both watches are made from Fairmined-certified ethical 18-carat gold.

IMPERIALE

Numbered 25-piece limited edition in ethical 18-carat rose gold

A splendid complication exuding poetry tinges time with a sapphire and diamond sky

IMPERIALE is enriched with a limited numbered edition of 25 original timepieces crafted in ethical 18-carat rose gold and highlighting the magnificence of the lotus flower. The collection’s emblematic floral motif appears against the backdrop of a sky whose ever-changing beauty evolves with the passing hours thanks to a rotating mechanism that distinguishes between daytime and night-time. Set with sapphires and diamonds and adorned with engraved gold lotus petals, the dial exudes an aura of absolute refinement, brought to life by L.U.C Calibre 96.30-L developed by the Artisans of the Manufacture.

The lotus is a sacred flower – particularly in Egypt and India – that has been associated with the sun since the dawn of time. According to an Egyptian legend, the sun rises from a lotus corolla every morning before returning to its petals at nightfall… Chopard observed Nature and drew inspiration from it in designing this 25-piece numbered limited edition in the IMPERIALE collection.

Lotus flowers open and close at sunrise and sunset”, explains Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele. “It seemed natural to us to enrich this watch with a day/night indication which is a watchmaking complication that is both romantic and attractive.” This link is all the more obvious in that design of this flower is one of the signatures of the IMPERIALE collection launched in 1994. Its shape appears on the crown of the models and on certain dials. It also adorns the flying tourbillon and moon phase models.

In 2017, Chopard won the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in the Jewellery category with the ‘Lotus Blanc’: an exceptional secret watch crafted in its Haute Joaillerie workshops and graced with diamond-set petals opening and closing at will on the dial.

Excellent skills

Celebrating the union of glamour and poetry, Chopard has designed an extremely feminine watch that instantly reveals its radiance through a case in ethical 18-carat rose gold entirely set with diamonds. The dial of the IMPERIALE expresses the quintessence of the Maison’s jewellery and watchmaking expertise.

To depict the lotus at the centre of this creation, the jewellery artisans have exercised their art by playing with voids and solids by means of petals arranged in a polished rose gold lacework delicately resting on other curved petals in engraved and satin-brushed gold. This sacred flower is rimmed by sparkling diamonds.

A changing landscape as the hours go by

The rotating disc of the day/night indication is a masterpiece of miniature sophistication revealing a sky that changes according to the time of day. Chopard has applied several artisanal techniques to creating this infinitely nuanced diurnal and nocturnal scene.

The delicately crafted mother-of-pearl mobile dial of this IMPERIALE model is lacquered in an exquisite cerulean gradient enlivened by seven gold-powder stars. Snow-set diamonds and sapphires in six different shades of blue wonderfully expresses the transition from day to night. This steady motion is made possible by the L.U.C 96.30-L calibre developed entirely in the Manufacture’s workshops.

Endowed with a 65-hour power reserve, this self-winding mechanism driving a day-night disc with a 24-hour rotation is an ingenious variation on the first calibre to emerge from Chopard Manufacture. This IMPERIALE model gradually changes face in passing from darkness to light, After midnight, the star-studded sapphire dome gives way to morning lights represented by a white diamond sky behind which the night stars fade away until the following day… A fascinating show starring Time itself.

L’Heure du Diamant

A sparkling showcase for Chopard’s watch and jewellery skills

The L’Heure du Diamant collection sums up the wealth of artisanal crafts cultivated within Chopard, by artisans ranging from master watchmakers to gemsetters. It is reinvented in a new watch with an oval-shaped case fashioned from ethical 18-carat white or rose gold, graced with a textured mother-of-pearl dial and rimmed with marquise-cut diamonds.

This creation features the emblematic tree bark-textured gold bracelet sculpted using a proprietary technique and beats to the rhythm of the Chopard 09.01-C self-winding movement. Matched with pair of earrings and a pendant endowed with the same aesthetic characteristics, this timepiece bears within it the genius of skills patiently nurtured through the years by Chopard’s Artisans of Emotion.

A natural-born classic

With L’Heure du Diamant, all the elements contributing to the virtuoso construction of an artwork – encompassing artistic, technical, symbolic, artisanal and heritage dimensions – converge to perfection. Chopard once again demonstrates this wide-ranging prowess through a jewellery watch featuring modern lines and proportions testifying to the extraordinary vitality of its workshops.

The oval-shaped case endows this new creation with an undeniable sense of grandeur which combines with the unique bark-textured strap to revive the inimitable spirit of 1960s glamour, while embedding it firmly in contemporary aesthetic codes.

Luminous gemsetting

The absolute purity of the diamond is majestically highlighted by the collection’s emblematic crown setting technique, which exalts the beauty of each of the gems by allowing the light to shine through. This ribbon of marquise-cut diamonds encircling the case lights up a delicate textured mother-of-pearl dial – itself dotted with 12 diamond hour-markers. Mother-of-pearl with its shimmering reflections provides an extraordinarily vivid mineral echo of the diamond mantle adorning the watch.

A sculpted gold bracelet

The light also plays brilliantly across the tree bark-style bracelet featuring a texture, silky touch and impeccable comfort stemming from unique expertise. Its hand-assembled and secured links give the gold an incomparably supple and light feel. The bracelet follows the curves of the wrist without ever snagging on fabric. Reflecting the plant world, its extremely fine veins endow it with special vibrancy.

This hand-crafted goldwork technique was developed by the Scheufele family in the 1960s. It epitomises the pinnacle of mental and manual brilliance displayed in this jewellery watch, the result of ancestral watchmaking and jewellery skills.

Watchmaking and jewellery heritage

Powered by the self-winding Chopard 09.01-C mechanical movement and a 42-hour power reserve entirely produced by Chopard’s watchmakers, this watch testifies to the complementary skills nurtured by the Maison. Jewellery watches are a decades-long speciality of the Scheufele family currently at the helm of Chopard. An ideal blend of beauty and precision, L’Heure du Diamant collection reaps the benefits of this technical virtuosity dedicated to impressive artistic modernity.

From designer to watchmaker and from jeweller to gemsetter and polisher, these creations were brought to life by the wide-ranging talents of the Maison’s in-house artisans.

Thus pursuing the sense of wonderment associated with jewellery-making expertise, Chopard has matched its timepiece with a pendant and a pair of earrings whose likewise marquise-cut diamonds are gracefully aligned. Nicknamed navette, a French word referring to its shape resembling that of a small boat, this elongated cut imparts a sense of rhythm and elegance to the jewellery in the L’Heure du Diamant collection, available in both white and rose gold.
